For My first Paper i am deciding to use the Newspaper Article Despite the Positive rhetoric about Women's Sports, Female Athletes face a culture os Sexual Harrassment by Leslie Heywood. One thing that caught my eye right off the bat when i was reading the article to see if i was interested or not was the fact that Leslie states that she claims that sexual exploitation of female athletes jeopardizes some of the benefits of sports for women. I point blankly agreed 100%. I have been a female/ student athlete playing softball and volleyball for a long as i can remember. I played all through middle and high school and played year around for travel. I wasnt able to play for UNCw for numerous reasons but did play for the Club Softball team my freshman year. ( knee surgery, possible shoulder surgery..) I feel like i can relate to this article so It will be easier to write a paper on it and know what i am talking about when writing. :] Sometime women are more hesistant to speak out when it comes to sports and problems or issues pertaining to it. Women are more stubborn when it comes to constructive critisism at times...This article tells it all and tell about the women athletes who get hassassed every single day becuase one they are women, weight and appearance, and last but not least because some are better than men :D Im excited now! i like this topic.
Personal Thoughts...
On another note...something that has been stuck in my head lately is this vido my professor had us watch in Social Work the other day. Its called World On Fire by Sarah Mclachlan...so if anyone has any time, Go watch it!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWybv7vTJ38#watch-main-area. The video is amazing..i felt as if it changed my life right when i watched it...at the end i was the one in the classroom that was sniffling :/ you can say i have a tender heart. I tried to put the video on here but i couldnt figure out how to do it without their being an error on the page...anyone who can tell me how? The video is just really touching, it makes people understand the world around us and how we treat eachother and the world itself.
About the sickness !
Went to the doctor ( an actual Physicians office ) and got diagnosed AGAIN with 4 more different types of meds including a steroid shot which was really helped! ugh. Hopefully all of this will go away soon...once again people make sure you WASH YOUR HANDS after everything!! Lol.
